Being Acronymble!

Putting together the Flow Analysis Database has been a project of mine for many years. I started collecting references on Flow Injection Analysis during graduate school at UMass Amherst and have done a lot of searching for FIA in the various databases that are available in addition to the Internet. One of the most amazing things that I have found is that in nearly every area of science FIA has been used in some fashion, from chemistry, to biology, to medicine, to forestry, to brewing, to agriculture, etc. As a result of this diverse range of areas I have come across a number of other meanings for the acronym FIA and I thought that I would report them here so that researchers in the Flow Analysis community can be aware of them.
